Do you really deserve it?
By Administrator | February 11, 2008
After some time in your job, you realize that it is a dire necessity that you get a raise. You think you have been doing too much and are, therefore, deserving of salary increase. You tell yourself that what you need is a raise and you make a promise that after which, you would have better performance, hence, better output.
Eventually, you do get the increase but do you celebrate because you deserve it? Or maybe you have just waited for it. Salary increase, on a more important context, must be taken as a time for us to contemplate if we do deserve it. Cheers to you if you know that you have been and are working hard for it. But if you are one of those who just busy themselves with empty movement (busy doing nothing, in short), then you belong to the undeserving – those who regarded time as a gauge for their raise. While it is acceptable that time invested in the job or company you are in is an important factor for a raise, it gives you better morale when you know in yourself that you have exceeded expectations and is therefore genuinely qualified and worthy of a salary increase.
